Impaired transportation and road networks in the rural area contribute largely towards maternal and infant mortality & morbidity. Complications during delivery and emergency conditions could not be handled due to poor referral services and distance of the FRUs.

SARA had actively supported government programs and had provided assistance at various forums. Organization is Mother NGO for the district Sikar and member of District Health Society. To strengthen maternal health services in the far flung areas SARA initiated helpline services in the Khachariyawas block of Sikar district with support of VHAI, New Delhi.

The helpline is a part of National Rural Health Mission JSY component. Helpline services were initiated with a view to facilitate referral services from rural habitations to the nearby FRU before delivery. SARA covered 164 villages including 67 sub-centres of 11 PHCs.
