SARA believes in overall development of the community with minimum standard of living for all. Situations are always adverse in a state like Rajasthan where drought is very common. In such situations drinking water is main problem for the people. Organizations made efforts to provide rainwater harvesting tanks for the community. Tanks are categorized in to personal, school tanks and community tanks, depending upon the capacity.

There are several women in rural areas who operate and manage their small businesses.Sincethey operate with little information and limited experience, they frequently fail to achieve expected results. SARA organises well thought out programs to develop entrepreneurship for the benefit of such women. Skill development trainings were imparted to the women so that they can develop their own setup and earnings. These trainings were in the form of mechanical work.

Plantation & Drought Relief :Organization initiated with plantation of around 1200 plants of babool, ardo and shisham so as to provide a means of employment for the people and to develop greenery. Nursery raising was also a part of the activity where 20,000 and 15,000 saplings of babool were prepared. Pond digging and deepening was an exercise as employment measure for the community and on the other hand creating a space for water storage.

Handicrafts & Handlooms :To provide regular employment and simultaneously promote the use of handlooms, SARA began this project in 1992. 10 Rural women received a six month training in the running of handlooms. They are now fully trained and receive their payment according to the work done. The marketing of the goods is done by SARA and so far the market has been local.

Leather work : There are 125 Regar families in Dansroli. Of these, only 25 are well to do. The remaining 100 do not have an assured and regular source of income. These families work as labour for the minority of 25 families. They are entirely dependent on them for their livelihood. The organization worked with 10 such families, 10 men who do the leather work and design the products and 10 women do embroidery on the leather. The organization’s attempt is to get these families to establish their own marketing contacts and function independently.The organization also, for the peasant, provides marketing support.
