Training for Rural Women

The area covered under this project over a period of three years ranges to a total of 15 panchayats in Dantaramgarh block in Sikar District and 15 panchayats in Kuchaman block in Nagaur district.

It will be prudent at this stage to discuss certain specific aspects of the background of the region in which the project has been conducted so as to better understand and appreciate the constraints and challenges those have been faced while running the project.

Rajasthan is India’s largest state with 5.5 of the total population spreads over an area of 10.4% of the total land of the country. More than 60% of the states total area is desert. Agriculture continues to be dependent of the rain fall. The entire state is presently facing the fifth successive year of draught as a  result of which the state is facing acute shortage of water rescues.
